CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulation is an expression that we use to give the congratulation utterance when someone succeeded in doing something.

ARTINYA : Ucapan selamat adalah SEBUAH ungkapan yang kITA gunakan untuk memberikan ucapan selamat ketika seseorang berhasil melakukan sesuatu.

Congratulatory Prepositions: to, for, on

[Preposisi Selamat: untuk, untuk, pada]

'Congratulations', though a common word used frequently to compliment/praise one another, the use of correct preposition with it is very important to sound natural and correct.

UCAPAN KATA 'Selamat', meskipun kata yang umum sering digunakan untuk memuji / memuji satu sama lain, penggunaan kata depan yang benar sangat penting agar terdengar alami dan tepat.

For example,Sebagai contoh,

'Congratulations for your success'  

is not natural though it also conveys the meaning. 

'Selamat atas kesuksesan Anda' 

tidaklah wajar meski juga mengandung makna. KARNA MENGGUNAKAN KATA "For" 

'Congratulations on your success' 

is the correct one. 

'Selamat atas kesuksesan Anda'

adalah KALIMAT yang benar. [MENGGUNAKAN KATA "ON"]

So, what is the guideline? Let's see below:

Jadi, apa pedomannya? Yuk simak dibawah ini:

a) 'Congratulations to you.' 

- the prepositional object is a person, i.e., 'you'.

a) 'Selamat untukmu.'

- objek preposisinya adalah orang, yaitu, YOU = 'Anda'.

b) 'Congratulations for your service.' 

- the prepositional object is an action, i.e., '(your) service'.

b) 'Selamat atas layanan Anda.'

- objek preposisinya adalah tindakan, yaitu, YOUR SERVICE 'layanan (Anda)'.

c) 'Congratulations on your success.' 

- the prepositional object is an event or a result of an action i.e., '(your) success'.

c) 'Selamat atas kesuksesan Anda.' 

- objek preposisinya adalah peristiwa atau hasil dari suatu tindakan yaitu, '(Anda) sukses'.

Therefore, we can conclude that  Oleh karena itu, kita dapat menyimpulkan bahwa :

'to' is used for persons and personal pronouns.

['to' digunakan untuk orang dan kata ganti orang] 

'for' for actions, ['for' untuk tindakan,]

and 

'on' for the specific events or the results of actions. 

['on' untuk peristiwa tertentu atau hasil tindakan]

Artinya:

1. Selamat untuk semua. (orang) 2. Selamat untuk kalian semua. (orang) 3. Selamat untuk dia / keluarganya. (orang)

6. Congratulations for leading the team to success. (action)

Artinya

4. Selamat bekerja untuk orang miskin. (tindakan)

5. Selamat telah menyelesaikan pekerjaan tepat waktu. (tindakan)

6. Selamat untuk memimpin tim menuju kesuksesan. (tindakan)

7. Congratulations on winning the match. (Note that winning the match is the result whereas leading the team is just an action.)
8. Congratulations on your promotion. (event or result)
9. Congratulations on your marriage. (event)

Artinya :

7. Selamat telah memenangkan pertandingan. 

(Perhatikan bahwa memenangkan pertandingan adalah hasil sedangkan memimpin tim hanyalah sebuah tindakan.)

8. Selamat atas promosi Anda. 

(acara atau hasil)

9. Selamat atas pernikahan Anda. (peristiwa)
