Megawati Hangestri Pratiwi

     Megawati Hangestri Pratiwi (born in Jember on 20 September 1999) is an Indonesian volleyball player who is also a member of the Indonesia womens national volley team.

     Megawati made her debut in the South Korean Volleyball League when her team, Red Spark, faced off against IBK Altos on 2023. She was successful in packing 21 points and named the best player aka MVP in that game. 

     It is not just about her acceleration over the rink. Megawati is also attract attention because what she wears. A closed garment complete with a hijab and a long t shirt on her hands and feet, at odd with the attire of her fellow players. She is the first Muslimah to play in the South Korean volleyball league.

The Puppy in the Basement

     When I was 6 years old, my mother told me never to go in the basement, but I wanted to see what was making that noise. It kind of sounded like a puppy, so I opened the basement door and tiptoed down a bit. I did not see a puppy, and then my mother yanked me out of the basement and yelled at me. It made me sad and cried. She told me never to go into the basement again, and she gave me a cookie. That made me feel better, so I did not ask her why the boy in the basement was making noises like a puppy, or why he had no hands or feet.

BLACKPINK in My Area

     Just 2 weeks ago I attended BLACKPINK show in the United States for their Born Pink World Tour. I had a great seat in the 100s section at MetLife stadium in New Jersey. 

     When the four members of BLACKPINK were about to finally come out, the music video cut off and the screen went black. At that point, the crowd stood up and started screaming at the top of their lungs. The girls really gave a top tier performance for us that night. Beside their group songs, the member also perform their individual songs. 

     At the end of the concert, I realized that they are actually the worlds biggest all female group. Their fans were as devoted as any I have ever seen, and their concert was professionally done. I cannot wait for more BLACKPINK music and concert in the future.
